Stoicism & Prepping
As a philosophy, stoicism focuses on virtue & personal growth. One may think that this is not very related to the practical aspects of preparedness. I, however, feel that adopting a stoic philosophy will help with not only getting prepared, but during those times when you need to use your 'preps' to live.
Self-reliance: Both stoic philosophy and prepping emphasize the importance of being self-reliant and not depending on external circumstances or other people for one's well-being.
Resilience: Stoicism and prepping both promote the idea of resilience and the ability to bounce back from adversity. Stoics believe in accepting what cannot be changed and adapting to difficult situations, while preppers prepare for potential disasters and emergencies.
Mindset: Both stoic philosophy and prepping involve a particular mindset of being proactive and prepared for challenges. This includes being aware of potential risks and taking steps to mitigate them.
Minimalism: Stoics advocate for a simple, minimalist lifestyle, and preppers often emphasize the importance of reducing one's dependence on material possessions and consumer culture.
Control: Stoic philosophy emphasizes focusing on what one can control and letting go of what one cannot control, and preppers often prepare for emergencies and disasters by taking steps to exert some control over their environment.
Preparedness: Both stoic philosophy and prepping involve a certain level of preparedness for potential challenges. Stoics prepare themselves mentally and emotionally for challenges, while preppers prepare physically and materially for emergencies.
